Spring 2008 Intellectual Property (IP) Workshop: Demystifying Patents Do you often wonder what it takes to get a patent covering an idea or invention? When, Why, and How does one seek a patent? Do you know how to get help when you think you have a new and valuable idea? Learn what is protected, criteria for protection, how to obtain protection, the duration of protection, how your publications may be affected, how you may be rewarded, and much more. The overall process can take years; but publications need not be impeded; and revenue may begin early.
Date: Thursday, April, 10 2008 The program will be divided into two parts. Part I will feature a presentation by guest speaker Mavern U. “Griff” Griffin III, a partner with the Sutherland Asbill & Brennan law firm. Mr. Griffin will concentrate his presentation on the acquisition and enforcement of intellectual property rights, as it pertains to patents. Included in this session will be information on FSU’s policies regarding patents. Part II will feature a presentation by Frank Allen and Chuck Zhang about the history and technology portfolio of the FSU High Performance Materials Institute and will share their patenting experience with the audience. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the discussions. Please RSVP by April 4, 2008. Email Vallie Stewart at vastewart@fsu.edu. To help us market this event we would appreciate it if you downloaded a flyer to post in your area. Last modification: Friday, Mar 28, 2008 at 04:28 PM |
