FSU Products in the Marketplace

In a remarkable demonstration of unique marketing arrangements, in 2005 e-florist JustFlowers.com partnered with FSU to offer a commission on any clients that bought flowers that were referred from Computer Science professor Ted Baker’s Florist Software site. Florist (Florida List of ADA Software) was produced by students and faculty of the Florida State University Department of Computer Science, under contract to the US Department of Defense, as a product of the POSIX Ada Real-Time (PART) Project.

Interestingly, if you google the word Florist (looking to send flowers) the Florida List appears in the top 6 sites. Surprised by the highly technical nature of the Florist List site, comparison shoppers have used the JustFlowers icon on the site to access the real florist often enough that royalties received have been used by Professor Baker to maintain the Florist List web site.
