Disaster Housing Resource Online - DHROnline

Next to losing a loved one, there is nothing more traumatic for victims of disaster than the loss of their home and personal belongings. Finding shelter quickly provides stability for individuals and families during a time of great uncertainty. DHROnline is a unique web site that brings together, immediately available rental properties – housing that can provide disaster victims with safety and peace of mind while their home is repaired or a new home constructed.

Federal Emergency and Management Agency (FEMA) and the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) launched the FSU created site in response to the need for immediate housing for Florida residents displaced during the very active 2004 hurricane season. Because of the immense devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 FSU expanded its DHROnline license to all 50 states.

Janet Dilling and Audrey Heffron in the Center for Disaster Risk Policy lead the management of DHROnline
